The Jean Jacket is Here to Stay!
Jean jackets are back with a vengeance, they took us from jazzing up polka-dot dresses in pre-school all the way through sprucing up sweatpants in college but once we hit the city streets they wound up in the back of the closet somehow. Well denim is out in a million different forms this season but the classic jean jacket is back and better than ever. Some of our favorite style stars show us just how to modernize the look from color-blocked pants to neon maxi dresses this staple sure isn’t goin’ anywhere anytime soon.
Currently Coveting: Nicole Richie’s Look
Nicole Richie has been an ongoing style inspiration and, let’s not kid ourselves, overall obsession, for a while now. Usually she works her magic on a well executed, super-chic bohemian vibe but recently we caught a glimpse of this polished, glam-rock Antonia Berardi look and fell head over heels, we had to re-create it. A simple double-breasted blazer compliments over-the-top embellished leggings while basic nude patent pumps are offset with a molten metallic clutch chock full of edge. Check below for deets on how we’re planning to get NR’s look.

The Spring Bootie: Perfect Peep-Toes
We love everything about Spring, the blooming flowers, the smell of fresh cut grass, the sun beaming down bronzing our skin and the soon-to-come summer fridays that lie just around the corner – everything, except the loss of our beloved boots. So this Spring we’ve vowed to somehow keep our ankles covered in luxurious leather despite the change in seasons – which, lucky for us, is totally realistic thanks to footwear’s newest trend, the perfectly slouchy, airy, peep-toe bootie. LOVE LOVE LOVE. We’ve rounded up a few of the best, including everyone’s favorite Margiela game-changer. How will you rock them?
1 – Maison Martin Margiela – $882.49
Nailed It: Polish Collaboration – Thakoon for Nars!
Right now we are totally obsessing over the pop of color our nails will bring this Spring. There are tons of amazing brights out there and endless ways to have fun with your digits but one of the best we’ve seen so far is this season’s collaboration between polish superstar NARS and fashion prince Thakoon. To match the hues seen throughout his S/S 12 collection, the designer has drawn inspiration from Indian Spice markets, stamping the names of ethnic plants & fruits on to each brilliant color, take in the power of Anardana named for a pomegranate seed, Ratin Jot-the earliest known dye, Amchoor-a sour mango powder used in curry, Kutki-an endangered plant of the Himalayas, Koliary-a plant said to hold healing and cleansing powers and Lal Mirchi inspired by the hottest red chili on earth. Koliary is Thakoon’s favorite and Ratin Jot is ours – which is yours?
Thakoon for NARS will be available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source in May. The colors will be up on www.narscosmetics.com beginning May 1 for $18 each.
Season Staple: Mint Jewels
As we prepare for Spring it is obvious that pastels are key this season and the most important of them all is Mint – everywhere we look we are seeing the icy hue and we are absolutely loving the deliciously soft pop of color it adds, especially when accessorizing with the perfectly minty jewels…so we’ve rounded up some of the best for you, enjoy!
1 – Margaret Elizabeth 6 Stone Chrysoprase Hoops – $154
2 – Margaret Elizabeth Chrysoprase & Druzy Drops – $148

Cross-body bags have definitely jumped to the top of the must-have list lately and for very good reason, from work to shopping to a night on the town, everything is a little bit easier and a whole lot chicer with one of these slung across your outfit. Though there are obviously tons of options out there, we are pretty much smitted with the Le Petit Écolier from Yiliy. The brand new designer totally nailed it, a perfect cross between bohemian & sophisticated, the gorgeous leather bag can easily compliment any look and will hold all of your necessities without any of the hassle. The Return of All Things Ladylike
Fashion Week is always an exciting time, and with the New York, Milan, Paris and London shows all taking place in quick succession, many new and inspiring trends have emerged from the catwalks.
These trends are sure to translate to the high street for spring/summer, and some of the most successful trends to emerge so far are ice cream colours, and tribal, romantic and paisley prints – to name but a few.
Arguably, however, the most exciting trend to come from the catwalks is the return of ladylike chic. With fashion’s 2011 penchant for androgyny – a trend that was perhaps best suited to models and super cool indie-chicks – ladylike fashion is a welcome return to elegant femininity. Categorized by nipped in waists, scooped necks and delicate fabrics, this style is versatile and genuinely wearable.
For ladylike fashion at high street prices, have a browse through the Ted Baker dress collection at Very. Ted Baker dresses are known for their chic simplicity, and – in line with this season’s ladylike trend – the brand’s current collection is no exception. For a great going out or party dress option, take a look at the Appliqués Circle Hem Dress, with its scooped neckline, flattering dark orange colour and unique circle hem design. Alternatively, check out the Sweetheart Printed Dress, which combines this classy ladylike look with on-trend sheer fabric.
Of course, no drop-dead-gorgeous dress is complete without equally gorgeous footwear, and a decent pair of heels is a staple wardrobe item for every woman – which is why it’s important to invest in high quality that won’t scuff after a few wears.
Very’s range of Ted Baker shoes carries an assortment of elegant court shoes to complete your ladylike look, made from high quality materials. Depending on the occasion, you can choose between platform court shoes with an open toe, mid-heel court shoes and Mary Jane court shoes with a cute bow design.
And, although heels are definitely a must-have accessory for the ladylike look, women who prefer to wear flats shouldn’t despair – a cute pair of ballerina pumps is also a fab finishing touch!
